Bank of Ann Arbor helps the Ann Arbor Art Center celebrate 100 years
11/26/08

Bank of Ann Arbor and the Ann Arbor Art Center announce the release of a 2009 wall calendar featuring a collection of art from twelve area artists.

After a successful collaborative effort with the Neutral Zone, a locally-based teen center, on the 2008 calendar, Bank of Ann Arbor was pleased to be able to showcase the fine work of another local nonprofit for the upcoming calendar. "When the Ann Arbor Art Center approached us with the desire to work together on our 2009 calendar, we felt this could be an excellent partnership," said Rhonda Foxworth, Assistant Vice President & Marketing Manager, Bank of Ann Arbor. "Our friends and clients would enjoy a year of terrific art and the Ann Arbor Art Center could get additional recognition in celebration of their 100th birthday."

"The Art Center's mission encompasses engaging the community with artists and recognizing their talent and accomplishments," said Marsha Chamberlin, President & CEO, Ann Arbor Art Center. "The calendar does this for twelve artists beautifully! As a one hundred year-old organization, this is a great way to begin the next year and the next century. We are thankful for the opportunity presented by such a great local citizen, Bank of Ann Arbor, which does so many wonderful things for the local nonprofit community".

Featured in calendar are works by twelve Ann Arbor Art Center artists who have won "Best of Show" over the past years. Works and artists featured are:

"The Trust and Investment Management Group has grown in excess of 150% over the last four and half years. "Cathy adds depth and expertise to our locally-based investment management team and will be a valuable addition as we continue to grow assets under management and provide our clients the highest level of personal service."

Christine Johnson joins Bank of Ann Arbor as Vice President, Cash Management Services. Bank of Ann Arbor TV campaign: 220 people, 63 businesses, 2 dogs, 1 fish
8/18/08

Today, Bank of Ann Arbor's "me, me, me" television campaign begins airing, with 220 people, 63 businesses, 2 dogs, 1 fish---all Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti residents---featured in the campaign. The three 30-second commercials extend the bank's lime green "Helps" campaign---which has been featured on outdoor billboards and in newspaper ads around town for the last several years---into television for the first time.

"We wanted to show our uniqueness and the role we play in serving the community as a locally owned bank in Washtenaw County," said Tim Marshall, Bank of Ann Arbor president. "The commercials show the wide range of area businesses and individuals that we help every day. It's a testament to our local commitment that this many people would take the time to participate in the making of these commercials."

Every man, woman, child, dog and fish who appear in the commercials speaks---or sings---no more than two words, one of which is "me."

Another interesting aspect of the campaign is that no mention is made of any specific banking services. "You'd never see Comerica or other big banks do that," said Ernie Perich, whose agency, Perich Advertising + Design, created the spots. "To me, having all those fine folks appear in a Bank of Ann Arbor TV spot says 'good banking services' in a far better way than actually saying the words 'good banking services'."

The campaign is currently scheduled to run into early October on Comcast in Ann Arbor. It can be seen on Discovery, ESPN, Food Network, HGTV, Lifetime, and TNT. Commercials will also run on Monday Night Football throughout the season.

Bank of Ann Arbor partners with Neutral Zone for 2008 Calendar
12/5/07

Bank of Ann Arbor and The Neutral Zone announce the release of their 2008 calendar featuring digital photography and creative writing from nine area teens.

Bank of Ann Arbor approached the Neutral Zone with the concept of creating a calendar featuring the art of their teens. The Neutral Zone enthusiastically embraced the idea. "When the Neutral Zone moved into the space on Washington Street they became next door neighbors to our downtown Ann Arbor office," said Rhonda Foxworth, Assistant Vice President & Marketing Officer, Bank of Ann Arbor. "Working together to create our annual calendar seemed like a great way to introduce our clients and friends to the fabulous work the Neutral Zone teens and staff do every day.

"The Neutral Zone was excited by this collaborative project with a local business," said John Weiss, Executive Director, Neutral Zone. "The calendar project truly fits our mission of providing teens with experiences and opportunities for personal growth through artistic expression."

"Bank of Ann Arbor is pleased to have made this project a reality, said Timothy Marshall, President & CEO, Bank of Ann Arbor. "We help many nonprofits in our community in a variety of ways. It's one of the ways Bank of Ann Arbor helps."

An excellent example of how the Neutral Zone helps grow talent is Community High student, Allison Correll. Allison Correll discovered her love for photography and also her talent. To her great surprise (and delight), at the end-of-class art show, she sold four beautiful flower pictures, worth about $200 total. "I can't believe I made something that people would pay $50 for." Now friends are paying her to take pictures for them, and she's building a photo studio in her basement to support her habit, and maybe her career. "If I hadn't taken the Neutral Zone's summer class, I would never know how great photography is. I am even considering going in to it as a profession."

The Bank of Ann Arbor and Neutral Zone 2008 calendar of youth photography and creative writing is available for free at the Neutral Zone, 310 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor or any Bank of Ann Arbor office.
